Triangular contest for Rewari MC chief’s post

Rewari: The Congress and BJP are locked in a triangular contest in the polls for chairperson of Rewari Municipal Council (MC) with independent candidate Upma Yadav, who is backed by former BJP MLA Randhir Kaprivaas, giving candidates of both the parties a stiff fight.

However, BSP candidate Manju Kumari and two others — Nirmala Rao and Jyoti Rani — too are leaving no stone unturned to make the contest multi-cornered.

The post is reserved for women and six candidates are in the fray, while 1,07,317 voters would decide their fate in the polls that are to be held on Sunday.

Besides, councillors from 31 wards will be elected, for which 147 candidates are in fray. The BJP has fielded former councillor Poonam Yadav. Vikram Yadav, from former minister Capt Ajay Yadav's family, is contesting on the Congress ticket, against Upma, who is ex-Zila Parishad member.
