A total of 34 rice mills have failed to deliver custom milled rice (CMR) worth around Rs 200 crore to the government in the past seven years.
"The department has attached the properties of 15 rice mills, which were in default of around Rs 60 crore, and the process to auction their properties is being initiated," said Nishant Kumar Rathi, District Food and Supply Controller.
"We have already issued them notices to clear the CMR, but they did not take the notices seriously, leaving no option but to attach their properties," Rathi said.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said the Revenue Department would conduct the auctioning process for which the officials had already been started.
After the auctioning of these mills in around 10 days, the process to attach the properties of remaining 19 rice mills would be done, said the DC, adding that the revenue from auctioning would be deposited in the exchequer.
He said the district milling committee allotted paddy to rice mills and the millers delivered 67 per cent of the rice of the total allotted paddy.
They will conduct physical verification of the mills, which have been given paddy for CMR. "An inter-department committee will conduct this physical verification," the DC said, adding that 40 per cent CMR of the total allotted paddy was to be delivered by the end of December, while 20 per cent in January, 20 per cent in February, 10 per cent in March and remaining 10 per cent in April.
