Learning kits for rural students

Karnal: Under the Phase II of the Covid-19 campaign of Varitra Foundation, an NGO, learning kits were distributed at Devipur, Sanjanagar, Mubarkabad, Nalvipar, Nalvikalan, Dhakwala Roran, Dhakwal Gujran, Mohdinpur, Kunda Kalan, Nasirpur, Nasirpur Tila, Sanjaynagar, Mubarkabad and Devipur villages. Each kit includes a set of worksheets, a drawing book, colours, pencils, notebooks and basic stationary items. The foundation is working in 20 rural government primary schools across interior villages of the Yamuna-belt in Karnal district. It had created offline learning kits for rural children in August as a viable solution to keep them engaged with studies during the pandemic. So far, Varitra has distributed around 3,000 kits among rural primary-level children of 27 government schools. Ayeshna Kalyan and Baljeet Yadav, co-founders and directors of Varitra Foundation, said, "The initiative has been supported by the Karnal Deputy Commissioner, Education Department officers, Gharaunda SDM and many others."

Vocational course at RKSD

Karnal: For enhancement of job opportunities at RKSD College, Kaithal, the management has completed all the formalities regarding the starting of the admission process of Bachelor of Vocational (B Vocational) degree course. Principal Sanjay Goyal said, "To attract enough job employment in the college campus is a commendable job and various companies for the purpose will be called so that students can get employment during their studies. A related admission committee has also been formed. Class XII pass-out students from any stream can apply for this course. The degree will be completely in regular mode and students will have to come for classes in the college campus."

KU students make it to NIC

Kurukshetra: A group of students from University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kurukshetra University, has been selected for the National Innovation Contest (NIC) organised by the MHRD and AICTE. The NIC is an annual contest that helps identify the budding minds from Institution's Innovative Council (IIC)-Institutes and engage them in building innovations and developing into start-ups through a series of mentoring, boot camps and international acceleration programmes. They also provide funding support and connections with technology business incubation units and access to an investment opportunity. The selected group named "Creeping spiders" comprised of Pranshu Pareek, Aishwarya Singh, Sakshi Tomar, Krishnan Poddar, Kumud, Simran and Kushagra Gupta, all in their third year of degree majoring in computer science in the engineering department of the UIET.
