Rewari: Rezang La Shaurya Samiti is celebrating a week-long 'Shaurya Utsav' at Rezang La War Memorial here to pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives at the Rezang La war that was fought in Ladakh at a height of 16,000 ft with China on November 18, 1962. As many as 114 Indian soldiers got martyrdom in the battle and 62 of them were from Haryana. As many as 30 belonged to the Rewari region. Naresh Chauhan, general secretary of the samiti, said the utsav was inaugurated by ADC Rahul Hooda on November 12 and its closing ceremony would be organised on Rezang La Day (November 18) by felicitating war widows. "Various social groups have daily been lighting over 100 earthen lamps (diyas) at the war memorial since November 12 to pay respects to the martyrs. A cultural event dedicated to the martyrs will also be organised on November 17," he said.
Oath ceremony held
Yamunanagar: Newly elected office-bearers of District Bar Association, Jagadhri (Yamunanagar), were administered oath at a ceremony here. The programme was attended by District and Sessions Judge, Yamunanagar district, Deepak Aggarwal; Superintendent of Police Kamal Deep Goyal and advocates of the bar. In the recently held elections, Bhanu Pratap Singh was elected president of the District Bar Association. Mohit Chhibbar was elected vice-president, Jasbir Singh Balyan was elected general secretary, Hari Om Sharma was elected joint secretary and Sunny Verma was elected cashier. Advocate Ram Kumar Radauri, a former president of the association congratulated the newly elected body.
