Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?

Curb cattle menace in developing colonies
The cattle menace is rampant, especially in new developing colonies and government-owned sectors. In Sector 51, Gurugram, lots of cattle can be seen roaming around during the day. These are not stray but domesticated, which are let loose by owners for grazing after milking. These cattle damage the pastures and plants grown for beatification alongside the roads and houses. Sometimes, they also harm passersby. The HSVP officials are never seen visiting these sectors for taking cognisance of any issue or problems. The authorities should sit up and take note. Arohi Kansal, Gurugram
Green Diwali a distant dream
IT was dismaying and frustrating to see many Panchkula residents bursting firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali despite being aware of its adverse effects on the environment and also Covid patients. People were keen to make optimum utilisation of the two-hour time frame (from 8 PM to 10 PM) for the purpose. Those people who observed green Diwali and kept themselves away from such non-eco-friendly ways to celebrate the festival are the example setters that need to be followed. SK Gupta, Panchkula
Firecracker ban proves ineffective
THE firecracker ban by the NGT in NCR was no deterrent to people because of the lackadaisical attitude of the Centre and the state government. In Narwana, firecrackers were easily available for purchase and people had burnt them till late hours. Nobody from the administration intervened due to which the air pollution levels increased to 390 in the morning. People also seem to be unaware of the Covid pandemic and the dangers of air pollution. All roads were also littered with trash which adds to residents' woes. Ramesh Gupta, Narwana
