Pubs, liquor vends raided in Gurugram

The Chief Minister's flying squad conducted a raid on more than 10 bars and liquor shops late Thursday night and penalised them for defying closure deadlines.

The flying squad formed two teams, which consisted of eight officers from the Excise and Taxation Department, along with their own squad. The teams were led by an inspector and a sub-inspector.

Inderjeet Yadav, deputy superintendent of police, crime investigation department, said they had received several tip-offs that pub, bars and restaurants across the city were operating beyond the permissible time limit. Also, the liquor shops were violating the excise rules and regulations.

Harish Budhiraja, inspector, CM's flying squad, said they had conducted a reconnaissance of the areas, such as Sector 29, MG Road, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road and found gross violations of the norms.
