Faridabad, December 26

With the arrest of four persons, the police claimed to have cracked the murder of a financier-cum-property dealer, within 48 hours.

DCP (crime) Mukesh Malhotra said the accused identified as Vikas alias Vikki, Ashok alias Patil, Sonu and Dharmender were nabbed from a hideout in Surajkund area this morning after a raid by a team of the crime branch of Sector 30.

He said while Ashok had been one of the shooters who had opened fire at Bhati, Vikas and four others were also involved in the conspiring and executing the crime.

Claiming that the reason for the murder had been the contract regarding dumping of waste near Bandhwari village, which involved a huge amount of money, the police said the accused carried out the operation on directions of one Manoj Mangaria, a gangster carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh and who had also been present at the site where Bhati was shot.

The accused, according to the police, had come in Fortuner and Corolla cars on Wednesday to Sector 31 here and shot the victim around 3 pm when he had come to meet a friend. They left Corolla behind and fled away in Fortuner and four of them had taken shelter in a hideout operated by one of the accused in Surajkund area. Four to five others were still absconding.

Bhati had also been a candidate of Loktantra Suraksha Party, floated by former BJP MP Rajkumar Saini, for the state assembly elections from Tigaon Assembly seat last year. The accused will be taken in police remand for recovery of the weapons, vehicle and for the arrest of the remaining accused, the police said.
