Senior citizens irked over sealing of house in Chandigarh

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, April 21

Senior citizens of a micro-containment zone in Sector 51-B have expressed anger over their first floor house being sealed after members of families residing on the second floor tested positive for Covid-19.

In an email to the UT Adviser, Narindra Khosla (78) has stated that he is a retired government servant and resides with his 74-year-old wife on the first floor (1257) of New Light Society, Sector 51-B, Chandigarh.

Members of the family residing in house numbers 1258 and 1255 on the second floor were suffering from Covid for the past many days. About 9 am yesterday, a nodal officer came with his team and put up barricades on the stairs between the ground and the first floor instead of the second floor where the residents are actually sick.

"As a result, even the garbage collector is unable to collect our kitchen waste etc," he says, adding that even a few other houses in the society were having Covid patients, yet no measures have been taken to cordon off their flats.

He requested the authorities to get the things set right at the earliest as they are feeling suffocated as if they were under house arrest without their fault or any reason.
