Sangrur, April 8

Acting on The Tribune news item, the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner (DC) ordered an inquiry and found that six Amritsar residents had got issued Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana (SSBY) health cards on a ration card of Kadial village in Sangrur without the verification of data.

Issue serious

It's a serious issue. We have written to the state authorities for a high-level inquiry into data misuse. — Ramvir, Sangrur DC

"After reading the news, we started a scrutiny of cards and found that six health cards have been issued in Amritsar on the basis of a ration card of a Sangrur family," said DC Ramvir.

During the preliminary inquiry, it has come to light that Sartaj Singh, Warun, Simarjit Kaur, Navdeep Kaur, Prabhjot Kaur and Raj have got issued SSBY health cards in Amritsar on the ration card issued in Kadial village. But since Aadhaar cards are linked with the ration card and fingerprints along with other details are uploaded on the portal, the misuse of the Sangrur ration card in Amritsar has put the process under the scanner.

The Tribune had highlighted that only Balwinder Kaur had got her SSBY card while the remaining family members, including her elder son Amritpal Singh, had not received cards as the portal showed data already verified without their fingerprints being taken. "The authorities called me to the Dirba office and promised that we will get our cards in the coming days," Amritpal Singh said.
