NDU development team visits Panjab University

Chandigarh, March 19

A six-member delegation of National Defence University (NDU) development team from Nepal visited Panjab University.

The delegation was led by NDU chairman Lt Gen Bala Nanda Sharma (retd). Other members of the high-powered committee include Prof Shambhu Ram Simkhada, Brig Gen Bishu Raut and Krishna Prasad Gnawali, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence.

Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich, chairperson, Department of Defence and National Security Studies acted as the nodal officer.

The team discussed the mandate for development of the NDU in Nepal and also shared their views. They also showed keen interest in visiting the departments running various courses on disaster management.

The team later visited the Department of Defence and National Security Studies where they were briefed on governance structure and PU's history, culture and heritage.

They also visited the Department of Geology to gain knowledge about the research work on the Himalayan Region of India and were shown various instruments being used in the study on seismography.

After visiting Geology Department, the delegation also went to the Department of

Geography, one of the oldest departments.

The delegates also had a tour of the university campus which was followed by exchange of mementos.
