A 20-year-old man was arrested in a blind murder case at Kharar here today. The suspect has been identified as Sita Gul Sheikh, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal.
Yesterday, a body of man, aged about 35, was found in a shed near Labour Chowk, Khanpur, Kharar. The police said the mouth of the deceased, Abbu Talib, aka Jullha, was smeared with blood and his jaw appeared to have been broken. He was employed as a waste collector.
The body was kept at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for identification. A case under Section 302 of the IPC was registered at the Kharar City police station.
During investigation, different police parties were dispatched to view the footage and establish the identity of the deceased. Abbu Talib's wife Pinky, who was living separately over discord, identified him. She is currently staying with her maternal aunt.
The police said further investigation revealed that the deceased and the suspect were consuming liquor in the shed and they had a fight over the suspect's wife. Sita Gul allegedly smashed Talib's face with a boulder.
SP (Rural) Ravjot Grewal said, "The blind murder was solved in less than 20 hours."
