PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram, while urging city residents not to lower guard in the upcoming Holi festival, said: "Due to the rising Covid-19 cases, everyone is expected to celebrate the festival within the confines of their homes."
Expressing concern over the alarming situation and cautioning people not to lower the guard, Prof Jagat Ram said: "The situation is worrying. On this festival of colours, we cannot afford to be casual or slack as we may have to pay a heavy price for our complacency. The only way forward to eliminate the pandemic is to follow the protocol of wearing a face mask covering the nose, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently."
2 die, 294 contract infection in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: The city recorded another high of this month with 294 testing positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the number of active cases to 2,532. With two more deaths, the toll has reached 374. The total number of cases in the UT has reached 25,898. A total of 152 more patients have defeated the virus in the city. TNS
Prof Jagat Ram took the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at the PGI here today. Since then, he has been feeling absolutely fine. He had no adverse reaction after receiving the first jab. Even today, he was all fine after getting the second dose of the vaccine.
He also urged people to come forward for vaccination and emphasised that there were absolutely no issues associated with the safety of the vaccine.
He said: "The vaccine will protect you against the attack of the Covid-19 virus. Hence, it is important to get vaccinated in view of the number rising again."
The PGI Director said: "Follow Covid appropriate behaviour even after vaccination because it will take time to develop antibodies against the virus."
