Man booked for raping 16-yr-old

Mohali: The Sohana police have booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl on Monday night. The suspect has been identified as Daljit Singh of Chandiala Soodan village in Mohali. The victim submitted a complaint to the police stating that the suspect was raping her for the past couple of months at his residence. A case has been registered against him under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act at the Sohana police station. TNS

Youth killed as car, bike collide

Mohali: A 27-year-old youth died after his bike collided with a car near Jhajj taxi stand in Phase IX. The victim has been identified as Ramesh, a resident of Jagatpura village. He was working as a security guard in Mohali. According to the police, the incident took place on Monday evening. The car driver, identified as Kapil, a resident of Jalandhar, was arrested on the spot and a case under Sections 279, 304-A and 427 of the IPC was registered against him at the Phase VIII police station. I-T team seizes Rs 2-cr jewellery

Chandigarh: Besides Rs 4 crore, a team of the Income Tax Department, which raided the office of a Sector 9-based pharmaceutical company and its managing director's house, also seized jewellry worth Rs2 crore, said sources. The raid at the office of Nectar Lifesciences and the house of its MD Sanjiv Goyal was going on since Sunday morning. 'Farm laws will boost economy'

Chandigarh: A "vishal panchayat" was organised by the BJP at Daria on Tuesday to make farmers aware of the benefits of the three farm laws. "The farm laws will help double farmers' income. PGI department gets award

Chandigarh: The Department of Nuclear Medicine, PGI, won the best scientific paper award at the 52nd annual conference of the Society of Nuclear Medicine at AIIMS-Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The virtual conference was attended by more than 800 national and international delegates.
