Karnal, December 26

Residents of Kalsora and Phoosgarh villages in the district organised langar of “gulab jamun” and ice-cream at the Bastara toll plaza on the National Highway-44 on Saturday for protesting farmers and commuters.

For the second consecutive day, farmers did not allow the collection of toll in protest against the Centre’s new farm laws. The protest at the toll plaza will continue on Sunday as well and so will be the langar of ‘gulab jamun’ and ice-cream. Subsequently, the same langar will be organised at the Delhi border.

Anil, a resident of Phoosgarh village, said: “Farmers and commuters enjoyed the combination of hot ‘gulab jamuns’ and ice-cream. We will continue the ice-cream langar at the Delhi border till the time protest continues.”

Residents of the district’s Dabri village organised langar of ‘bread pakoras’ at the toll plaza.

Farmer leader Laddi meanwhile said they were hopeful that the deadlock would end soon. “The Union Government is working at the behest of capitalists,” he alleged.
