Two protesting farmers, one from Punjab and the other from Kaithal, died of cardiac arrest at the Tikri-Bahadurgarh border in the past 24 hours. The deceased have been identified as Amrik Singh (75) of Gilawali in Gurdaspur district (Punjab) and Amarpal (32) of Serhada village (Kaithal).

So far, nine farmers have lost their lives during the protest at Tikri border. "Amarpal had been camping at a petrol pump near the main dharna spot at Tikri border for the past five-six days. He died of heart attack on Friday evening. We took him to Kaithal and reported the case to the police," said Rameswar, cousin of Amarpal, adding his cremation was performed at the village today.

The second death at Tikri border was reported on Saturday afternoon when the body of Amrik Singh was brought to Civil Hospital, Bahadurgarh. Amrik along with other protesters, had been staying near new bus stand in Bahadurgarh. He suddenly lost consciousness at the dharna spot this morning.
