Teachers of government schools want the UT Administration to review its decision on calling students to schools amid a low turnout and asymmetrical number of working hours. Sources claimed the footfall of students in government schools has seen a dip in comparison to September 21 figures, when schools reopened after the lockdown.
“There has been a dip in the attendance. Over 16,000 have given a written consent for coming to schools. However, for the past two days, not many students are coming to schools. Perhaps, the decision should be reviewed. It will put both teachers and students at ease,” said schoolteachers.
Some expressed that many also feel that the working hours should be fixed at all schools. “There are many teachers who are working for limited two of three hours, but some are working for five hours given the work load. Teachers should be given equal work,” said another teacher.
Sources also claimed that the department may take one week’s time to assess the footfall of students and problems faced by teachers and the none-teaching staff to take some decision.
