The Jammu crime branch today registered a formal criminal case for detailed investigation against three persons, including owner of a Mohali-based visa consultancy firm, for defrauding two residents of Reasi district on the pretext of providing them work visa in Canada.
The accused were identified as Aditya from Mohali, owner of consultancy VFS Global Associates and his associates, Daljeet Singh of Mohali and Love Preet Singh of Jalal Patti Khudi Kalan, Barnala.
According to the crime branch, Manpreet Singh and Gagandeep Kour, residents of Bharkh village in Pouni tehsil in Reasi district, in a written complaint, alleged that the accused had a conversation with Aditya from Mohali after he got his reference and information about his consultancy from a television channel.
"The accused lured the complainant and later showed him some kind of an offer letter from Canada and told him and his wife to deposit money in the name of health insurance, medical check-up and processing fee. He later demanded more money for fingerprint forms, embassy fee and accommodation charges for their stay in Canada. After taking an amount of Rs 4, 59,800 from the complainant, the accused did not respond nor picked their phone calls," an official spokesperson of the crime branch said.
The Jammu crime branch initiated preliminary verification and established prima facie offence against the accused.
