Chandigarh, September 17
A local court today sought a report from the police authority concerned in an alleged molestation case after the father of a girl filed a complaint seeking direction for
the registration of an FIR against office-bearers of the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA).
The court has fixed the next hearing in the case for October 5.
In the complaint, filed under Section 163 (3) of the CrPC, the girl's father prayed for action against 16 office-bearers of the CLTA for allegedly protecting the accused in the molestation case of her daughter.
The office-bearers against whom action has been sought include Meghraj, chief operating officer, Romen Singh, chief coach, Neeraj Sarna, the then SHO, Sector 3 police station, Dinkar Gupta, then CLTA treasurer, and currently Punjab DGP, and all officials of the CLTA, who dealt with this case. The complainant alleged that five male trainees misbehaved his daughter at the CLTA complex in 2019, but office-bearers failed to take any action on his complaint.
He also alleged that the police also failed to act on his complaint. — TNS
