Chandigarh: The UT police have booked a Zirakpur resident in a cheating case. The complainant, Tarsem Singh, a resident of Sector 26, Chandigarh, alleged that Sushil Gandhi, a resident of Zirakpur, along with others, cheated him of Rs36 lakh on the pretext of selling a plot at Pipli Wala Town, Mani Majra. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station and an investigation has been initiated into the matter. TNS
108 evacuees back from Dubai
Mohali: As many as 108 Indians stranded abroad amid Covid-19 outbreak landed at the Chandigarh international airport from Dubai at 3:27 pm on Friday. All repatriated passengers, mostly from Punjab and nearby states, will reach their districts under the supervision of respective state government representatives where they will be quarantined as per the government guidelines. Man found dead near liquor vend
Mohali: The police found the body of an unidentified man near the Phase XI liquor vend here on Friday. The deceased, who was wearing a blue T-shirt, appears to be in his forties. Sub-Inspector Satinder Singh said a case had been registered at the Phase XI police station and the body kept at the Civil Hospital, Phase VI, for identification. TNS
Panchkula shops shut on Mondays, Tuesdays
Panchkula: All malls and shops, except those dealing in essential goods and services, shall remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. These will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays. The shops dealing in essential services can open from 7 am to 7 pm. TNS
