Fazilka, August 25
Activists of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Sidhupura), led by their district president Pragat Singh, staged a protest on the bridge of a seepage drain near Khui Khera village today.
The farmers said their standing crops in hundreds of acres were damaged due to overflowing water in the old Khui Khera seepage drain last month.
The farmers said the drain had not been cleaned for the past three years, adding that they had been demanding compensation for the damaged crops and cleaning of the drain for a long time. — OC
