Amritsar, December 3
Charanjit Singh Chadha, former Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) president, passed away today. He was around 85. His grandson Harpreet Singh said Chadha died due to a cardiac arrest. The cremation will be held at 11 am in Amritsar tomorrow.
Chadha was lately in news in April when Akal Takht had lifted the ban on him from addressing religious, social, political or educational programmes following charges of an immoral act in 2018.
During the same period, he also suffered a setback when his elder son Inderpreet Singh Chadha shot himself dead with his licensed revolver. Chadha took over as the president of 117-year-old CKD with the support of then Akal Takht jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti in 2004.
