Faridabad, May 29

With the toll charges on the Ballabgarh-Sohna state highway set to be increased by 20 per cent by next month, the repair of the highway, lying in a dilapidated condition for the past over three years, is yet to be taken up.

The 32-km road, built on BOT basis, was opened in 2012. The toll, which varies between Rs 25 and Rs 300 per vehicle (one-way), is set to be raised by 20 per cent from June 30, sources said.

Neeraj Sharma, MLA from the NIT Assembly segment, said while the authorities had no right to collect toll on the poor road, the issue has been raised in the state Assembly. The issue was also taken up at a meeting held here on May 10, attended by the local MP, MLA, DC and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation.

Bal Kishan Prasad, manager, Gurgaon- Faridabad Toll Road Private Limited (collecting toll), said while the repair work had been started, it was the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad (MCF), which was yet to repair the patch that was dug up for laying a sewage line in 2018.

"The MCF is ready to pay the charges for the repair of the part where the sewage line was dug up, but it was the Concessionaire that was to repair it," said the DC, Yashpal Yadav.
