A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his estranged wife on May 12. The accused, identified as Shashi Kumar, a native of Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh), was remanded to two days' police remand today.
On May 12, Kumar met his wife Anmol, who had been living separately, near Badkhal flyover here and tried to resolve the matter. He insisted on her to return with him, but she refused. Argument ensued and Kumar took out a knife and stabbed Anmol several times. She succumbed to injuries before she could be taken to hospital.
It has been found out the couple, who had been residing in a rented accommodation in Sector 37, had fought after Kumar found Anmol talking to someone on phone. Subsequently, she left home.
