The police have arrested one of the 25 accused booked in connection with the gangrape of a young woman here recently.
According to a complaint lodged with the police on Wednesday, the victim had developed friendship with a youth, Sagar, hailing from Ramgarh village. She was gangraped by the accused when she reached Hodal town to meet him in connection with a marriage proposal on May 3.
According to the complainant, the accused took her to a tubewell in the fields where one Samunder, brother of Sagar, and 19 other unidentified persons gangraped her. The victim said the next day, five other youths raped her. She was dropped off near the Badarpur border in Faridabad on May 4. Claiming that she was bedridden and unable to move for many days, she approached the police for lodging the complaint on May 12.
"While Sagar, the main accused, has been arrested, the police have launched a hunt to nab the remaining culprits in connection with the case," said a police official.
