Panchkula: The district on Friday reported 314 fresh Covid-19 cases, the second highest single-day surge so far, taking the active caseload to 1,831. The district also witnessed two Covid deaths. A 56-year-old man from Kalka, who was suffering from diabetes mellitus, died of the virus. A 43-year-old man from Sector 20, who had no known comorbidities, also succumbed to the disease. The death toll now stands at 162. While the overall tally reached 16,260, the cumulative recoveries stand at 14,267. — TNS
