Man defies home isolation, booked

Panchkula, April 17

A Covid-19 patient has been booked for allegedly roaming in a public place in violation of home isolation rules.

The patient, identified as 60-year-old Vijay Kumar Gupta of Sector 17, had undergone a Covid test at Civil Hospital on April 9 and his sample came out positive on April 11. He had been advised to be in home isolation till April 26. The CMO office had received an anonymous complaint that the patient had not been following home isolation orders and was seen "roaming in public parks and in groups."

Acting on the matter, the Civil Surgeon filed a police complaint on April 16.

The police have registered an FIR against the patient under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and Section 188 of the Epidemic Disease Act at the Sector 14 police station. — TNS
