"Beautiful and lively colourful images would be drawn on the back walls of houses under the beautification work. An amount of Rs36.50 lakh would be incurred on this work. After cleaning the walls, images of beautiful flowers and those associated with the rich heritage of India would be drawn and painted on the walls," he added.
Gupta said in order to make the city clean and green, nine tenders of about Rs65 lakh had been allotted for different sectors in Panchkula to plant grass on the vacant spaces along the roads.
"Ever since the people of Panchkula gave a clear mandate to the BJP in the civic body elections and all the councillors under the leadership of Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal are striving to make the town green and beautiful," he said.
However, the move did not go well with residents, who termed it wastage of money.
