Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, April 14

Senior leaders of the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee today submitted a memorandum of demands to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore.

The Congress requested Badnore to immediately rollback the increased water tariff. The leaders said the issue of notices to the owners of the Chandigarh Housing Board flats for demolition and penalties was hanging fire since long. They sought relief to the allottees by regularising the need-based changes.

They demanded that the Lal Dora issue be resolved and a comprehensive plan be made and funds released for the holistic development of the UT villages. They also requested to find immediate solution of the waste dumping ground issue. They urged the Administrator not to privatise UT Electricity Department.

Councillor Devinder Singh Babla alleged, "The roads are broken, parks are in a bad shape, the whole city has been dug by various companies and no maintenance is done by the BJP-led Municipal Corporation. Sehaj safai kendras are overflowing. The MC, it seems, has lost its relevance."

The Administrator assured action on their demands.
