With 349 fresh Covid-19 cases, the district on Saturday recorded its highest single-day jump since the pandemic outbreak. The active caseload also breached the 2,000 mark for the first time.
The district also recorded two Covid-related deaths, taking the toll to 164. A 55-year-old woman from Pinjore, who was suffering from type 2 diabetes, succumbed to the virus. A 70-year-old man from Kalka, with the same comorbid condition, breathed his last. Five healthcare workers were among those found positive. The overall tally reached 16,609 while the cumulative recoveries stand at 14,422. The recovery rate has dropped to 86.83 per cent. The total number of active cases stands at 2,023.
2,800 vaccinated
As many as 2,800 eligible persons were vaccinated at 30 sites in the district.
