Abohar, March 28
State BJP president Ashwani Sharma reached Abohar to meet party legislator Arun Narang at the latter's residence. He was accompanied by farmer leaders Tikshan Sood and other party leaders.
After consultations with senior functionaries here, the party decided to give a call for Abohar Bandh on Tuesday. All non-government organisations will be requested to support the call.
Expressing sympathies and solidarity with Narang, the state party president enquired about the sequence of events.
Sharma termed the incident unfortunate and condemnable in the strongest terms. The Muktsar police had completely failed in providing fool-proof security to Narang at the pre-schedule press meet in the party's office at Malout. Such assaults were not possible until and unless the same are backed by the ruling Congress. Captain Amarinder Singh who also holds the charge of Home Department was directly responsible for failure of law and order situation, he must quit, he demanded.
