Patiala, December 14

Women participating in the agitation against the Central Government's three farm laws led the protest march towards Khanda Chowk in the city today. The protest was held in various districts throughout the country on a call given by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha.

The farmer organisations, including Krantikari Kisan Union, Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari, BKU Dakaunda and other outfits, were joined by student unions, government teachers and employees and others in the protest.

Farmer leaders pointed out various amendments suggested by the Centre in the farm laws. They only want that the three laws should be rolled back, leaders added.

Sarabjit Kaur, a government employee, who participated in the protest, said, "Women are playing an equal role of men in protests. We will continue this every day until the new laws are repealed."

They would hold protests outside offices and residences of leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said farmers.

"We will continue to show black flags to them. Also, we will boycott all items and services provided by domestic and international corporate houses," added farmers.

Volunteers distribute medicines, tea, langar

Much like distribution of essential items at Delhi borders, farmers' protest was voluntarily supported by people of from sections of society irrespective of their allegiance to other organisations. Volunteers served tea while a religious institution distributed langar among protesters. Few persons associated with a political party provided free medicines as per the need of individuals during the protest.
