Smart city, ending stray menace on his mind

Kulbhushan Goyal of the BJP has been elected as the Mayor of Panchkula. In a conversation with Chandigarh Tribune, the 60-year-old real estate developer shares his vision as he promises to take the city to new heights.

What do you have to say about your and the BJP's victory?

I am happy that people of Panchkula have expressed their faith in me and my party. We will try to reciprocate their blessings by working for them with dedication.

How do you read this mandate?

It is clear that people trust the BJP and its development agenda. Our Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and local MLA and Haryana Speaker Gian Chand Gupta have given innumerable development projects to the city. Around Rs4,000 crore has been spent in the constituency on development projects.

What are your priorities?

As promised in the manifesto, I will try to establish Panchkula as a smart city. Ending stray cattle/dog menace and construction of a solid waste management plant in Jhuriwala are among the other priorities.

People complain about corruption and bribery in the MC? How are you going to tackle it?

Once I assume the charge, I will take decisions which will ensure transparency and clean administration at all levels.
