Panchkula, December 14
BJP's Mayor candidate Kulbhushan Goyal will be filing his nomination papers tomorrow while Congress' Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia will be doing so on Wednesday, which is the last date for filing nominations for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections.
Both candidates have plunged into the campaign mode by reaching out to the electorate.
In a press note issued today, Goyal stated there will be a triple-engine for growth if he is chosen as Panchkula Mayor by voters.
The voting for the Mayor's post and 20 councillor seats will take place on December 27 and results will be declared on December 30.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mohit Handa held a meeting with senior police officials, SHOs and police post in-charges to review security in the district ahead of the civic body elections.
"Security personnel have been deployed at borders with other states to curb the use of money and liquor in the local body polls," said Handa.
