A Sector 34 resident has complained that he was duped of Rs80,000 by a fraudster.
According to the police, complainant Ramnik Singh reported that he posted an advertisement on OLX to sell accessories of his camera.
On May 21, the complainant received a call from a person, who introduced himself as Rakesh, a resident of Dhanas.
A deal was fixed for Rs16,000 and the buyer agreed to pay Rs8,000 advance, while the remaining amount was to be paid at the time of the delivery of the items. However, a few minutes later, the suspect sent a screenshot stating that a payment of Rs16,000 had been made to the victim. The suspect then asked the victim for a refund and sent him a QR code on his mobile phone, through which a total of Rs80,000 was debited from two bank accounts of the victim. A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station. — TNS
