Chander Gaind, Commissioner, Patiala Division, today visited the families of farmers who lost their lives at the Singhu border near Delhi. The families would be paid Rs 5 lakh ex gratia each.
The Divisional Commissioner, who visited Bachan Kaur, the mother of deceased Pal Singh (72) of Sahauli village near Bhadson, said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh-led state government was committed towards helping the families of the deceased farmers.
At Sapherra village, which has lost two farmers in a road accident when they were on their way back from the Singhu border, Gaind said he had directed the district administration to pursue the cases of the deceased and injured farmers with the state government for monetary help to their kin. He also assured the families of the victims, Gurpreet Singh (22) and Labh Singh (68), of every possible help.
Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit added that the district administration had recommended an aid of Rs5 lakh each for the deceased farmers besides Rs50,000 for those injured.
