Chandigarh, November 18
A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the UT police for allegedly robbing two persons at knife-point.
A team, led by Inspector Amanjot Singh, SHO of the Sector 39 police station, nabbed the suspect, Bhupinder Singh, alias Sunny, a resident of Sector 41, from near the Sector 54/55/40/41 chowk.
Criminal past
- The police said the suspect had seven cases, including theft and robbery, registered against him in Chandigarh.
In one of the cases, Gurjinder Singh of Panchkula, who works with a courier company, had reported that he had gone to deliver couriers in Sector 41 on November 16 when an unknown person threatened him at knife-point and robbed him of his mobile phone.
In another incident, the victim, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Sector 41, was robbed by the suspect the same day.
Kumar had reported that while he was returning home, a man carrying a knife stopped him near the Sector 39 petrol pump. The suspect threatened the victim and robbed him of his purse containing Rs1,500 and documents.
The police had registered robbery cases at the Sector 39 police station. A police official said the robbed items had been recovered from the suspect.
