In Karnal, paddy farmers not paid even after three weeks

Tall claims by the government on clearing paddy payments within 72 hours seem to be falling flat as a majority of farmers have been awaiting dues even around three weeks after the procurement of their produce.

The procurement began on September 27 and till October 13, 5.53 lakh MT paddy had been procured, said an official.

Additional Chief Secretary (Food and Civil Supplies) PK Das said, "The dues of farmers whose paddy was procured online after October 1 will be released first. The payments of those whose produce was procured offline may take some time."
