Emphasis on making varsity paperless

Faridabad: The Vice-Chancellor of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad Prof Dinesh Kumar, on Thursday directed officials concerned to take necessary steps for the effective implementation of e-office software in the university and work towards making the campus completely "paperless". He was addressing the first meeting of the reconstituted digital cell of the university. Registrar Dr SK Garg, director, digital cell, Dr Neelam Duhan and other members of the cell were also present in the meeting. The VC acknowledged the efforts made by the cell in the development of the university's own digital learning management system (DLMS), which had proved beneficial for students during the Covid pandemic.

Webinar on climate change

Hisar: The department of alumni relations, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science amp; Technology, Hisar, organised a webinar on climate change and sustainable development under the current scenario. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest and informed about various scholarships provided by the alumni association to the underprivileged students of the university. He also requested to the alumni to donate their electronic devices like mobile, laptop etc. which were not in use for those university's students who were unable to arrange the same for their online classes. Registrar Dr Avnesh Verma congratulated the department for starting this alumni interaction series to build and grow an institution's brand through word-of-mouth. A lecture through online mode was delivered by joint recipient of Noble Peace Award 2007, Dr SD Attri, Additional Director-General, IMD, an alumnus of the department of environmental science amp; engineering, GJUSamp;T, Hisar.

Submission date extended

Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) has extended the last date for the submission of online application form for admission to various postgraduate (PG) programmess (first semester) and LLB three year course (first semester) session 2020-2021 till Oct 26. MDU Registrar Prof GL Taneja said details of these academic programmes were available on the MDU website.

Gold medal for PGIMS doctor

Rohtak: Dr Deepti Dahiya, an assistant professor at the department of obstetrics and gynaecology of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences/PGIMS, Rohtak, was awarded with a gold medal at a virtual conference organised by the Raipur Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society, recently. The head of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Prof (Dr) Smiti Nanda, informed that Dr Deepti was awarded for her research paper on the best technique to extract deeply impacted head of the baby to ensure maternal and foetal safety in the second-stage caesarian section procedure.

Dr Sharma appointed Dean

Rohtak: Dr Nov Rattan Sharma, professor, department of psychology has been appointed the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) by Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh in terms of provisions of Statute 19 of the MDU Act. MDU Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja said Prof Nov Ratan Sharma's tenure as Dean, faculty of social sciences would be with effect from October 1, 2020 till his retirement date - January 31, 2023.
