In view of Covid, the government has decided not to charge any penal rent from government employees failing to vacate official accommodation between March 1 and June 30.
The employees will not face any penal action, including imposition of penal rent, for their failure to vacate houses during this period. They will only have to pay licence fee.
State government employees are provided official accommodation in lieu of nominal licence fee. They have to vacate the accommodation a month after retirement or transfer.
As per a senior official, the one-time relaxation has been given for their inability to vacate the accommodation due to the lockdown. — TNS
