Havildar Diwan Chand (40), posted in 4 Jat Regiment at Siachen Glacier, reportedly died of heart attack on Friday. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
He hailed from Basi Akbarpur village in Gharaunda block of the district. He was cremated in his village with full state honours on Monday. secretary paid tribute to havildar.
Col Parmod Kumar Yadav, Zila Sainik Board secretary, said Operation Meghdoot was on in Siachen Glacier and any fatality during it was given the status of martyr. — TNS
