After 12 persons from Dhaliwal Colony tested positive for Covid-19, the Health Department declared the area as a micro-containment zone here today.
12 cases in one day
As many as 12 Covid cases were reported from the colony on Sunday, which prompted the Health Department to declare the area a micro-containment zone. Many households of Dhaliwal Colony have been sealed for 10 days. All vehicular movement, personal and public transport, has also been restricted in the area as per the SOP.

It has been learnt that there were only sporadic cases earlier in the colony. However, the colony reported 12 cases on Sunday, which prompted the Health Department to declare the area micro-containment zone.
Patiala is witnessing a steep rise in the number of coronavirus cases over the past few days. Since the past four days, over 1,000 Covid cases were reported in the city. On Sunday, as many as 258 coronavirus cases were detected in the city, thereby, taking the district tally to 8,668.
However, the Health department claimed that the spike in positive cases was the outcome of increased sampling. The Patiala Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said they had already crossed the daily sampling target of 3,000. "The rise is because we are detecting more cases due to increased sampling," Dr Malhotra added.
Meanwhile, 10 Covid deaths were reported in the city during the past 24 hours taking the toll to 242.
