Kurukshetra: A five-day short-term course on 'security challenges, objectives and issues in IoT-enabled smart grid' was launched online at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) on Wednesday. The purpose of this short-term course is to make participants aware of the IoT-enabled smart grid operation and planning with renewable energy sources, security challenges, objectives and issues. The course was inaugurated online by the institute's director Padma Shri Satish Kumar. He gave his views on the role of cyber security in smart grid and informed about issues such as energy security, efficiency, sustainability and renewable energy and climate change. As the keynote speaker on the first day, Prof Swades De of IIT-Delhi presented his views on data-driven performance optimisation communication for IoT. Balakrishna P, engineer from GE Grid Solutions, Hyderabad Technology, presented his views on smart grid communication, cyber security overview and practical usage along with a case study on automated grid planning system.
Tributes paid to martyrs at MDU
Rohtak: The university community of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Wednesday paid floral tributes to the gallant soldiers, martyrs and freedom fighters on the occasion of Haryana Heroes' Martyrdom Day at the state-level freedom fighters' memorial on the campus. Senior university functionaries, including Dean, academic affairs, Prof Nina Singh; Dean, students' welfare, Prof Raj Kumar; Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja; chief warden (boys) Prof Randeep Singh Rana; chief warden (girls) Prof Sanju Nanda; librarian Satish Malik; director, public relations, Sunit Mukherjee and other office-bearers, offered floral tributes at the memorial. Prof Nina and Prof Gulshan Lal laid a floral wreath at the memorial on behalf of the university community.
