3 assault cases reported from Chandigarh

Three incidents of assault were reported from the city.

In the first incident, victim Sonu Singh, a resident of the Bapu Dham Colony (BDC) Phase II, Sector 26, reported that he was going towards Shastri Nagar through the forest area on the rear side of the Police Lines when around six miscreants stopped him and asked for his phone to make a call. When the victim refused, the suspects stabbed him in the chest and fled the spot.

The victim was rushed to the Mani Majra Civil Hospital by an auto driver from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The police have registered a case at the Sector 26 police station and initiated an investigation.

In another incident, complainant Deepak Kumar, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, alleged that his neighbour, Amir Khan, came to the roof of his house and assaulted him on September 22. The suspect then allegedly pushed the victim down from the roof, leaving him injured. The police was informed about the incident and a case has been registered at the Mauli Jagran police station. The suspect has been arrested.

Third incident of assault was reported at Ram Darbar, Phase II, on Wednesday night.

Sources said the victim, identified as Monty, was going on a motorcycle, along with his friend Honey, when a few miscreants stopped them and assaulted Monty.

He was injured and admitted to the GMCH, Sector 32. The police was informed about the incident following which an investigation was initiated.
