To break the chain of Covid transmission, the UT Administration today declared 24 more micro-containment zones in the city.
UT Adviser Manoj Parida said the issue of the Covid-19 outbreak was examined by a committee and a considered view emerged that the affected areas be declared micro-containment zones. The affected areas are parts of Sector 7, 15, 19, 20, 24, 27, 32, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 44, 46, Mauli Complex, Ram Darbar, Phase 2, New Indira Colony, Indira Colony and Pipliwala town.
On September 16, 27 affected areas were declared micro-containment zones.
Parida said regular screening and monitoring of the areas would continue and frequent sanitisation would be conducted. He said residents were advised to strictly observe social distancing, wear masks and follow hand hygiene.
Action against those giving wrong details
- Panchkula: Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja said legal action would be taken against those giving fake details during Covid testing and breaking the home-isolation rules.
- The ACP, Raj Kumar, has been appointed as the nodal officer for the same.
- During a meeting with senior health officials, Ahuja said those who gave wrong addresses, names and contact numbers during testing, switch off mobile numbers after being tested positive or indulge in unruly behaviour with health workers would be dealt with sternly and legal action will be taken against them.
- "If any patient under home isolation is found roaming in public, the home-isolation protocol for the offender will be cancelled and he/she will be shifted to a Covid care centre," he said.
