With a spurt in Covid-19 cases and an increase in the footfall of devotees at the Golden Temple, the SGPC has now made it mandatory for visitors to wear face masks at the shrine complex.
Earlier, the SGPC was lenient on this critical guideline that may help in providing safety from the virus, despite the fact that the Punjab Government, since April 9, had made wearing face masks mandatory for people at public and religious places.
Presently, pilgrims and SGPC sewadars can be seen without masks. Even those who volunteer to serve on the premises and in the langar hall move around without masks.
