The body of an unidentified man, burnt above the waist, was found under mysterious circumstances in a forest area near the Dhanas lake this morning. The police have registered a murder case against unknown persons.
Sources said forest guards were on duty when they noticed the body lying in the forest area along the road heading towards the dumping ground in Dadu Majra.
The police were informed, who visited the spot. A CFSL team also reached there for investigation.
The police said the victim's body was burnt above the waist. The body was shifted to the mortuary at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
The victim is believed to be aged around 30 years.
The police searched the area, but could not find anything that could lead to the victim's identity. The police said they would enquire about people missing from nearby areas in the past few days.
An investigation in this regard has been initiated at the Sector 11 police station.
